Mariah Carey fetes her soon-to-arrive twins — and Life & Style was the only magazine invited! As Nick lovingly documented every move his glowing wife Mariah Carey made on a handheld camera on March 6, it was clear he'll always be Mariah's baby. But he's about to get some welcome competition: The A-list couple had gathered an intimate group at LA's luxe Montage Beverly Hills hotel to celebrate the arrival of their twins, due in late April or early May.
"I'd never been to a baby shower," Mariah tells
Life & Style. "This was my first one — it was so festive!"
Festive is a serious understatement. As
Life & Style previously reported, Mariah and Nick are expecting a boy
and a girl. So of course the shower was awash in fab pink and blue hues — from the balloons and flowers to the servers' aprons.
Nearly lost in the sea of sweet pastels? Celeb friends — including
American Idol judge Randy Jackson and host Pierce Morgan — who filled the 6-foot-long gift table with tiny outfits and books from the registry arranged by GaGa Designs, before noshing on a selection of gourmet pizzas and appetizers.
While pals Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne couldn't make the adults-only affair, they left a lasting impression with their present: an almost-life-size stuffed giraffe!
"Nick and I were so grateful to everyone who came to celebrate with us," Mariah tells
Life & Style. "There was a lot of love in the room, and to top it off, fans from more than 50 countries sent well-wishes in a book they made for our twins titled
Always Be My Babies. It was a night I will never forget."
Neither will the dad-to-be. "To see my beautiful wife in all her glory...," a touched Nick mused in his toast. "I don't know what it's like to carry twins, but I know what it's like to witness someone carrying twins."
Clearly, it's breathtaking.
ALL THE ADORABLE DETAILSRoom with a view. Guests took in the gorgeous LA skyline from the Conservatory Grill atop the Montage hotel. All the while, Mariah held court from a glam chaise lounge!
Napkins as favors. Emblazoned with carriages and the special occasion's date, Mariah's napkins coordinated with tiny strollers that adorned the fete's pink and blue bouquets.
Tasty, colorful treats. When not sucking on Sugar Factory's Hello Kitty lollipop favors, close family and friends had their choice of banana, dark chocolate or red velvet cupcakes.
Divine drinks. While Mariah's champagne brand, Angel, co-sponsored the shindig, "I sipped a 'pregnatini,' a special non-alcoholic cocktail," the singer tells
Life & Style.
